No I-140 No., file I-485?

All my dear friend:
right now I had a very very emergency question, two weeks ago my lawyer in Huston submited my I-140, now he's gone, but I hope I can submit I-485 before Oct, 1, what should I can? How can I get the I-140 receipt number? I think maybe I can track down the Money order number, but I didn't keep it. I tried to call USCIS, but they told me to wait? do you think I can file I-485 without I-140 receipt number? I asked one local lawyer, her answer is "No". Please help me!!!!
