It is not necessary to have

birth/marriage certificates of either your wife or your in-laws. Of course, if you have them, it does not hurt to include in the visa application package.

Your in-law could ask their company to write something like "a family relation" letter (like the ones we used to fill out time and time again in China), certifying the names, ages, work place etc of all their direct family members including parents, sons and daughters.

Then you or your wife should provide a personal (and/or official) invitation letter for the parents.
