You lose H1 as soon as you lose your job. The only right you have is to ask your employer to buy a plane ticket for you.

If you find another job immidiately, it is still better to go out and get a new H1B visa for the new job. That is because the gap between two H1B might give you trouble later at the final stage of 485 if you do not obtain a new visa.
