Canadian green card does not entitle you any special rights in terms of working in USA. You still need to get H1B. In order to use TN visa instead of H1B under the NAFTA agreement (assuming you are a qualified professional according to NAFTA agreement), you have to be a Canadian Citizen. In order to be a Canadian Citizen, you have to stay in Canada for at least 3 years to qualify, and that does not includes the actual time for processing your citizenship application.
