I don't think you can apply through EB1A or EB1B, 5 1st author paper is too little for EB1A, and you need 3 year post-graduate working experience for EB1B. You could try EB2 NIW anytime. However, IMHO, your best chance of getting GC would be EB2 LC. Find a post-doc RESEARCH ASSOCIATE position in a university, make sure your boss will have stable grant support for at least 4 years or so. Don't freak out with the current situation and don't let it interfere with what you want to do with your career. Tell me if you need further information and I will give you my email address.
