My 485 is beyond process time!

Dear Friends:

My 485 RD is Dec., 2003, now is beyond the Nebraska Processing time. The answer from INS is my case going through FBI name check.My case will not be processed until FBI name check is clear. What I can do?

My another question is name check is the first or the final step in 485 processing? if name check is the first process, then after name check is clear, INS may ask me for more references, such as health issue and employment letter. Then my 485 decision will be made in couple of months?! share your information, please.
