yes, that is Fist time they went to apply. my father in lower is 82, and mother in law is 68. both retired.
they asked:

why you are going? when did you son go to us? has he ever go back to china? No. what does he do in us? why you retied for 15 years and never went to usa? how long are you going to stay in us?

they asked same question as to my parents. my parents got visa 2 times, but my in laws got denied.
