One of my friends in China would like to get an opportunity to come to the US to do some research on computer science and asked me where to start. Anybody has any experience? I imagine it might be just surf the internet and find appropriate professors and email them to see if they would accept visiting scholars, and if they like to accept her, then they can her with the documentations to get a J-1 visa, is that it? I don't see there are any specific adminission procedures anywhere, not like for a master or phd degree in a particular program, that they do have a written procedure on how to apply for.
Thanks for info.
