Both of you can submit I-485 forms together when you
are inside USA. A person can not submit I-485 if he/she
is not inside USA.
AFter you have submitted your I-485, if you leave USA
without an approved AP, your I-485 will be invalid
immediately.

So after you submit your I-485, make sure you have an
approved AP before you leave USA.
