My case is a little different from you (NIW) but I did te first FP last AUgust and got biometrics done in June. I asked my lawyer and he did not give the explanation like your's lawyer. However, I saw an Inidian guy talked about the conversation between him and people at local office who did biometrics to him (from immigrationportal.com). The basic idea is same as you. At this forum, there are at least 3-4 who did biometrics at NSC since this Jan. But I have not heard anyone who got 485 approved...
