Visiting visa (B2) is not allowed to work, even work as a volunteer.

INS will not know if you are working or not, especially working without payment (not on payroll) or paid by cash, unless someone reports to them.

The consequence is very serious if INS knows. You will be deported immediately without any excuses, probably will be unadmitable; your employer will be fined and the owner could be jailed per immigration law.
