Thank you!
My further info. are follloing:
Post-doc in Neuroscience (neuroprotection area), got Ph.D. in 2003. I've been working on the same area since 1999. 7 publications, 11 abstracts and 8 recommendation letters (6 from academia, 2 from industry, no NIH or other govenment recommendation letter, 1 independent recommendation letter). I got my independent rec. letter by asking a professor I knew from neuroscience meeting. Our labs work on similar area and she came to see my poster every neuroscience meeting, we had good times talking about my research.
I think currently, it's best time for NIW application. The TIME you submit your application is very important. I do see it takes longer time for many people with stronger background. My friends with very strong background got their GC last year, it took about 2.5 years. While, currently I heard many of my friends got their GC approved within 6 months, or got their I140 approved within one month (esp. submit in May). Try to submit you application ASAP. Talking about background, applying NIW is like participating a Pass/fail exam. People scored 99 are treated the same as people scored 60. As long as you're qualified, do it immediately. Good luck!
