security check on I-485?

I filed I-140 in March, 2003 categoried by outstanding researcher and sponsored by University. Got approved in Feburary 2005.
I-485 was filed in June, 2003 and fingerprint was done in March of 2004.
I called vermont service center in May for my pending 485's status and it was answered that my case was going through security check which can't be predicted how long the check will take.
I was told by my friends that I can get the security check status on my case from the security check unit-FBI. I wonder if some one can tell me the connect information and how can I get the security check status on my case in detail.
Your help is highly appreciated.
