Urgent!!!: H1 to H4 question

I am curretnly on H1 visa, and will apply for H4 together with my spouse's H1 visa application using the premium process. Is it legal for me to stay in the U.S. if I quit the current job when the Immigration Service is processing my H4 application? That is, suppose my application is delivered on July 10th (I expect
to receive my H4 on July 25th). If I quit my job on July 15th, will I be able to stay in the U.S. legally from July 15th to July 24th?

If possible, could you please tell me where I can find official information on this?
