enter US without documents

I am in H1 status. I also filed I-485. Recently I drove my car and passed a US immigration post by mistake (at the post, just pay money without document/vehicle checking). Following an immigration officer's guidance, I made a "U" turn and seek entry to US. The problem is that I do not have any immigration documents with me. After explaining to an immigration officer, he checked my drive licence and checked some information in his computer and let me in. Does anyone have this unexpected experience? Will this bad experience affect my current H1 status and pending I485 processing? Thank you.
