If you think your lawyer is competent and has no additional charge for RFE, then you can stay with her/him to prepare your RFE. Otherwise, you can ask back your documents (RFE notice and yellow page) and fire your current lawyer and hire a new one or do it by yourself if you think you can do it and you will save a couple of thousand dollars. You do not need their agreement. The contract can be voided by you since your case was not approved.

When you hire a new lawyer, you will be asked to fill out a new G28 forms. When new G28 form is submitted, the old one will be invalid automatically. If you do it by yourself, you may fill out a G28 form for yourself along with your RFE response letter to declare that you will be the representative of yourself. This will also invalidate the old one automatically. Otherwise CIS will continue to send the documents to your former lawyer.
