landline telephone

Will a US landline telephone work in Hong Kong? My father has hearing issue and he's in the US now. I want to buy him a cordless phone with adjustable volumn control when he goes back.

The voltage adaptor needs to be changed for sure. Are there anyone try using a US telephone in Hong Kong?
