US fed reserve is a branch of US admin, serving US interest

I don't know much about this topic but I thought US fed reserve is a branch of US administration which is serving US's best interest, not the world? And who knows if US gold reserves still got the gold it claimed it has after the cancellation of the direct international convertibility of the United States dollar to gold? It will be interesting to see if Trump found out the US gold reserve was actually empty :  P ?
