“Could a president who ordered SEAL Team 6 to assassinate a political
rival, and is not impeached, would he be subject to criminal
prosecution?”
My response: Judge, allow me to answer your question with a question. Suppose SEAL Team 6, without any Order, assassinated the next President's political rival, the one leading the polling against him. Isn't it true that the President could, with a stroke of the pen, pardon all of the members of SEAL Team 6? The answer, of course, is yes. His role as President gives him the right to pardon and forgive any crime by anyone, Correct? If he has this right to pardon for every other citizen of the United States, it stands to reason that it also applies to himself. So, the answer is NO. The President of the United States is not subject to criminal prosecution for any federal crime while he holds office.
