US official says Hamas fighters were on initial evacuation list
A US senior administration official shed more light on the rather meagre and delayed evacuation of injured Palestinians. The official said that was due to, he said, Hamas providing a list of those injured Palestinians who they wanted to cross the Rafah border crossing.
This official said that a third of the names on that list were actually Hamas fighters.
Now, there’s no way to corroborate that, but this is according to the US official, who said that these discussions held between Israel, the US and Egypt, that ultimately did agree to open the border who were vetted, and determined by those countries not to be Hamas fighters.
