Most ordinary people are bystanders of a war, or passive watchers of a tragedy. The silent stories of the other side are not presented in the official history.
I got this view while visiting Manassas national battlefield park near DC. Many people actually set up the picnic table to see the first battle of the civil war.
The debate missed a key point.
