However, there are so many unique things to New Zealand, it is really hard to say which one is the formally agreed national symbol.

 

For example, for being the national symbol, Most people would probably prefer Kiwi, which is a kind of native bird, (not the fruit, the fruit is native to China, which is called 獼猴桃. They re-cultured them and re-named them Kiwi fruit). Because of this unique bird, New Zealanders also called themselves Kiwis.
