HERE'S WHAT WE ALREADY KNOW
* PRIVATE health insurance rebate to be means-tested - kicking in at $80,000 for individuals and $160,000 for couples - saving the Government $1.9 billion over four years;
* THE flood tax will take effect from July 1 for 12 months, raising $1.8 billion from four million taxpayers;
* THE summer's natural disasters - including Cyclone Yasi and the Queensland floods - have hit the Budget hard, but the Government will show the Budget will return to surplus in 2012-13;
* COST of detaining and processing asylum seekers has blown out by as much as $800 million;
* MORE than six million low-income earners on $30,000 a year will have their pay packet boosted by $6 a week, with changes to the low income tax offset - to take effect July 1;
* $308.8 million to give pensioners free set-top boxes to convert analog television to digital;
* $350 million to provide small businesses an instant tax write-off of the first $5000 of any vehicle purchased from 2012-13;
* $47.1 million over four years to trial a program that may cut parenting payments for teenage mums with a child aged six months or older unless they go back to finish Year 12, or take a TAFE course;
* $771.9 million over five years to increase Family Tax Benefit Part A payments up to an additional $4200 a year for each eligible teenager who stays in school;
* $1.3 billion over four years to deliver bonuses worth up to $8100 to the country's best 25,000 teachers, with payments starting in 2014;
* A mental health package is expected to match, or exceed, the $430 million plan announced by the Coalition; and
* Defence civilian numbers will be cut by 1000 over the next three years, delivering $300 million in savings.
