an accident or something, touch the wood. more than likely you will be sent to emergency service of a public hospital.
One of the good things about private hospital is you can choose your own doctor, or you have high possibility that you can have a private room during your stay at hospital. But for me, unless I require complicated surgery, I don't really need to choose a particular doctor.
So basically you are just buying private insurance for some accident that my occur some time in the future. If you are healthy, you can just choose a basic hopstial cover with a few extras that suit you, like I have back problems so I need a lot of physio, but I can't see there's much possiblity that I will have a heart problem in the near future, so I don't need much cardio. And you will be paying less.
And if your combined taxable income with your partner is below $150,000 or personal taxable income below $75,000, you don't even need a private hospital cover.
