Send in the Clowns

　 　　《小夜曲 a little night music》由 Stephen Sondheim 詞曲，取材自Ingmar Bergman導演的電影《夏夜微笑 Smiles of a Summer Night》，描述二十世紀初期瑞典一群男女的浪漫愛情，其中的男女主角Desiree 和 Fredrik相互喜歡卻不斷錯過。於1973年2月25日在百老匯舒伯特劇院推出，上演了600場.
　　 　　《Send in the Clowns 小醜進場》是本劇最受歡迎的名曲，這首歌出現於該劇第二幕，女主角Desiree 問男主角Fredrik是否還想被她從有名無實的婚姻中拯救出來，卻被Fredrik婉拒了，受傷又帶著苦澀的Desiree 落寞的唱出這首歌......自嘲又傷感、發人深省，無論詞曲均是上乘之作.
