英語簡單句(SVO)

Every English sentence must have a subject and a verb.

The Simple Sentence (簡單句)

   The basic sentence pattern that is in this unit is called a

simple sentence. A simple sentence has one subject (S) and

verb (V) combination (結合). Usually there is a noun or pronoun

object (賓語)(O) or other information after the verb.

Simple sentence: S+V+O  (簡單句:++)

Subject       +     Verb     +     Object     +    Other Information

Maria Simms      plays             the piano            well.

She                  practices        the piano            every day.

Maria               likes           classical piano music  a lot.
She                  enjoys           listening              to German music.          

Simple sentence: S+V  (簡單句:+)

Subject       +     Verb     +     Object     +    Other Information

Maria                 plays                               extremely極端地 well.

She                   practices                           for three hours.

Maria                 goes                                to piano class every day.

* Some verbs, such as like and enjoy, must have an object after them.

[These are called transitive及物的verbs. In a dictionary, these are marked

With the letters vt.] (Incorrect: Maria likes a lot.)

* Some verbs, such as go and arrive, can never have an object after

Them. [These are called intransitive 不及物的 verbs. In a dictionary,

These are marked with the letters vi.] (Incorrect: Maria goes piano class.)

*Some verb, such as play and practice, can have an object or not have an

Object. [In a dictionary, these are marked with only the letter v.]
