Just want to have a place online that I keep a journal to 1) record my children's growth; 2) write something for myself.

Mom & Me & Mom by Maya Angelou

Love the writing style of Maya Angelou. Picked up her new book Mom&Me&Mom from the popular book shelf in the library on the last day of school. Determined to relax and read some good books during the break. It is a good read, witty, frank, and full of mothering wisdom.

I wish that I can be as outspoken, affectionate, and passionate with my own children like the author's own mother. Show the children your love with words, action, and body language. Call them "babies", tell them "love you", and hug them, and be there for them whenever they need you. Give them the wisdom, coverage, and show them how. Not all parents can be like Maya Angelou's mom. My own mother is too conservative, too quiet, and too reserved. When I was growing up, she never hugged me, never talked with me about boys, dating, or passed any motherly wisdom to me as I struggle to become a mother myself. She helped me in quiet. She did my dishes, cooked my meal, washed my clothes, and yet I wish my mother could have been a little bit more affectionate.

I wish I would be a different mother.
