Cooking by YouTube

I watch an insane amount of YouTube. A lot of the videos I watch are cooking shows because:
  • I’m hungry but I know I shouldn’t eat so I watch other people eat
  • Cooking shows are non confrontational and soothing
  • I need inspiration for our next meals
For this last reason, my recent favorite channels are:
  • 詹姆士姆士流官方專屬頻道
  • 田園時光

詹姆士是個台灣電視廚師,主持過很多烹調以及旅遊美食節目,比如型男大主廚,愛玩客等等。田園時光是個可愛的阿婆(她自稱),飯菜都是在自己家裏廚房拍的。

這兩個頻道的共通之處就是節目短小精悍,照著做出來的東西成功率高,味道好。

What I don’t want for a recipe video:

  • complicated recipe with too many ingredients or steps. I’m not auditioning Iron Chef here
  • The video looks good but it’s like a fantasy. Watch the video but don’t try for you WILL fail

Earlier today I was watching a video by SpainRevealed about churros. 西班牙糖油條。看了口水流一地。

上次我們去西班牙時,基本上天天都去油條專賣店吃現炸的油條蘸巧克力。西班牙好吃的東西很多,但是如果我隻能選一項,那一定隻能是油條巧克力。(如果是法國,那就隻好馬卡龍。The almighty sweet tooth rules.)

我比較喜歡細的那種油條,粗的太油。話說前陣子忽然饞churros 到發瘋。雖說紐約有正宗一點兒的有賣西班牙油條的甜品店,但疫情之下,紐約也不能說去就去。誰想竟然在網上買了全套的家夥事兒:

  • Chocolate shavings, from latienda.com

然後某日搗鼓了一上午,竟然不可思議地做出嚐起來頗為神似的西班牙油條和巧克力。狂吃了一氣。可惜還是麻煩,且要現做現吃,所以目前隻好看個視頻聊解饞意。

So it’s not just cooking by YouTube, eating by YouTube, but also sightseeing & traveling by YouTube. Have You Tubed today?
