When I am in Canada, I know I am in Canada

As soon as you get to the Us-Canadian border, you will read some signs in both English and French. I choose to talk to Canandian border agents in French so I get to practice the old old language aquired long time ago in my childhood. Normally they would give me some funny looks and then go along with the procedure.

There are some typical Canadian expressions which sound pretty funny to our ears. A lot of times, when they ask a question, instead of using the formal format, they make a statement first and then add an "eh?' at the end to make it a question. Instead of "Isn't it a nice day today?", they would say:"It's a nice day, eh?" "The foundation of this building looks bad, eh?" haha...We go to washroom there instead of bathroom. The tone of the ending of their sentences is always up and sometimes I am confused not knowing if they are giving me an answer or asking me a question, haha...

I appreciate the slower pace in most Canadian areas. People have this happy go lucky attitude toward life, which is refreshing for somebody like me, who is always on the go and let the phones, the internet, the people take over my life.

Bathed in the spring sun and blanketed in the beautiful nature of Canada, the outlook of life is optimistic again. I can live another day. Canada is a great country, eh???
