我願  騰雲乘霧     飛越環球,

        揚子江上

                奔騰著  民主自由改革的  波浪,

        密西西比

                激蕩著 種族平等和諧     的樂章.

 

看那,

        柏林殘牆早已頹殘,

                三八鴻溝行將封填.

        海底隧道,

                終將把大陸台灣親密相連.

看那,

        縹緲寰宇

                人類在共建太空站,

        碧海藍天

               勇士在橫掃環境汙染.

 

啊,   校園內外

                為什麽少年罪犯有增無減?

啊,    耶路撒冷

                為什麽冷槍熱彈依舊如前?

 

啊,   鄉間城邊

                為什麽有人交迫饑寒?

啊,    男人老少

                為什麽有人鬥字不沾?

 

新的世紀,

        新的夢想.

新的時代,

        新的展望.

願那象征和平的青鬆,

        茁壯成長在千山萬嶺之間.

願那象征繁榮的牡丹,櫻花, 紫羅蘭,

        欣然怒放在億萬花園庭院.

 

願全世界團結在聯合國旗下,

        共同迎接和創建:

                一個世紀的和平,

               一個世紀的興旺,

                一個世紀的民主,

English Translation

 

        Bright     Future

 

        I would like to stand on the top of the Himalayas,

                     And look at the sunny sky, wind and clouds over the seven continents.

         I would like to ride on the clouds, fly everywhere around the earth,

                      And cast the seeds of peace over every land.

 

         Look,

                      On the Yangzi river,

                                    The wave of democracy, liberty and reform is flowing,

                      On the Mississippi,

                                    The musical movement of racial equality is surging.

 

         Look,

                      The Berlin Wall was torn down,

                                    the 38 Parallel will be erased.

                       A channel tunnel

                                   will finally connect Taiwan with the Mainland with love.

 

         Look,

                      In the dimly discernable universe,

                                   Mankind is jointly building a Space Station.

                      Between the green ocean and the blue sky,

                                  Warriors are sweeping environmental pollution.

 

         Ah,      Inside or outside of school campuses,

                                   Why is the number of young criminals increasing?

         Ah,  In the Jerusalem area,

                                  Why can people still hear the sporadic noise of gunfire?

 

         Ah,  In the cities or countryside,

                                   Why is there still hunger?

         Ah, Among men and women, young and old,

                                    Why are some people still illiterate?

 

         New century,

                      New dreams.

         New times,

                       New prospects and hopes.

 

         Hoping that the green pines, which symbolize peace,

                      Grow sturdy among thousands of mountains.

         Hoping that Mudan (peony), Cherry and Violet, which symbolize prosperity,

                      Joyfully bloom in billions of family’s yards and gardens.

 

         Hope that the world will be united under the flag of the United Nations,

                      Together in welcoming and creating:

                                    A whole century of peace,

                                   A whole century of flourish,

                                    A whole century of democracy,

                                    A whole century of hope.
