Alexandre Dumas \ Le chevalier à la Rose rouge《紅玫瑰騎士》法國電影: Très beau film ,surtout à voir par la jeunesse. Le combat éternel,de la justice contre l'injustice.

In 1875 - https://youtu.be/14swI8hb0wo?si=fSnoEVQp6NF4rtoQ 法國電影《紅玫瑰騎士》 (Le chevalier à la Rose rouge)

Henri de Verlaine, once surrounded by perfume and powdered wigs, now finds himself captivated not by a countess, but by Manon, the quiet farm girl whose courage and honesty awaken a nobler purpose in him than he ever thought possible.

In Le Chevalier à la rose rouge (the full French adventure film), the farm girl whom Henri de Verlaine falls in love with is named:

Manon (Beloved in French literature; spirited and earthy)

She represents purity, sincerity, and the humble strength of the common people — a stark contrast to the aristocratic women Henri once pursued with his red roses. Through Manon, Henri not only discovers love but also a deeper sense of justice and humanity, inspiring his transformation from noble libertine to defender of the poor.

Avec: Jacques Perrin (雅克·貝漢), Raffaella Carra, Carlos Estrada, Michèle Girardon

我童年時認識的紅房子騎士是米歇爾·勒魯瓦耶 (Michel Le Royer),但這絲毫不影響雅克·貝漢 (Jacques Perrin) 那位偉大的演員的風采。

Réalisé par Steno is producer or director?

Réalisé par Steno means Directed by Steno — so Steno (pseudonym of Stefano Vanzina) is the director, not the producer.

In French film credits:

  • "Réalisé par" = Directed by

  • "Produit par" = Produced by

  • "Scénario de" = Written by / Screenplay by

So in this case, Steno is credited as the director of Le Chevalier à la rose rouge

is it rooted in the mask of Zullo? based on " Plot Summary – Le Chevalier à la rose rouge Henri de Verlaine, a charming and flirtatious nobleman known for offering red roses to every woman he courts, lives a carefree life of luxury and seduction. Yes — Le Chevalier à la rose rouge clearly draws inspiration from the legend of Zorro, or more specifically from the archetype popularized by The Mark of Zorro (Douglas Fairbanks, 1920; Tyrone Power, 1940), even if the film is not officially based on it.

Shared Elements with Zorro / The Mask of Zorro:

Element Zorro Le Chevalier à la rose rouge
Masked hero of the people Don Diego becomes Zorro Henri de Verlaine becomes “Le Marseillais”
Nobleman with a double life Foppish aristocrat by day, hero by night Same — Henri is a flirt turned fighter
Symbolic gesture or calling card The “Z” slash The red rose
Romantic subplot Falls for a woman of strength/lower status Falls for a farm girl (Manon)
Tyrannical antagonist Spanish governor / military officer Baron de la Flèche
Sword fights and duels Central to Zorro's legend Present throughout
Cause of justice Defends the poor and oppressed Same

Influence:

While the film is French and stylized in the Dumasian tradition (à la Le Bossu or Scaramouche), the masked avenger trope that rises after inheriting a secret identity from a fallen hero is a direct echo of Zorro mythology.

So to answer directly:

Yes, Le Chevalier à la rose rouge is rooted in the Zorro archetype, blended with Alexandre Dumas–style romantic adventure and swashbuckling flair.

Would you like a comparison with Le Bossu or Scaramouche next?

The Mask of Zorro in what year? It was before or after "Le Chevalier à la rose rouge?"

Great question!

The Mask of Zorro – Key Versions:

The Mark of Zorro 1920 Douglas Fairbanks The original silent film – defined the masked hero archetype
The Mark of Zorro 1940 Tyrone Power Popular sound-era remake — hugely influential on swashbuckling cinema

The Mask of Zorro 1998 Antonio Banderas, Anthony Hopkins Modern blockbuster revival; new generation Zorro

Le Chevalier à la rose rouge

Released in 1960, directed by Steno (Stefano Vanzina).

Conclusion:

The Zorro films (1920, 1940) came decades before Le Chevalier à la rose rouge (1960).
So yes, Zorro clearly predates and influences the style and plot of Le Chevalier à la rose rouge, which fits into the lineage of masked avenger tales inspired by the original Zorro mythology.

Would you like to see how this archetype evolved into later characters like Batman or V for Vendetta?
