Your kitchen utencils have fishy smells after thoroughly cleaned? I doubt it.
Same for the kettle! You cleaned it thoroughly after using it for cooking. I bet you even a dog can only smell the detergent residue. It would be cleaner than not used before because the room attendant does not usually clean the kettle.
Seriously you need some common sense just like you keep arguing the beddings in big hotels/cruise ships are not steamed cleaned unless one eyewitnessed it. I did eyewitnessed how cruise ships cleaned the beddings, in the huge laundry room on the ships.
