3 options at the back of the ticket - one of it is to mitigate it, but one has to go to court to do so. It did not occur to us that one can write a letter to appeal.
There is a 15days time limit to respond the ticket. By the time we got home, it was already 4 days later and a weekend coming, so we lost the first 6 days already. Besides we are leaving again in 10 days after our return home. so we decided to just pay the ticket which was already reduced from $122 to $91. We got caught doing 67 in a 55 zone - it was a single lane road and there was a big truck towing a big boat tailgating us so we sped up but was caught by an unmarked car ambushed at a deadend side road at the downhill. Oh well.
Now I read the back of the ticket (photocopy) again, it even mentioned that "Failure to pay may result in a referral of your case to collection agency". Wow.
Though I am not sure if they would really do so for an out-of-state address, but I would never know and dont want to find out!
