You can't really compare Vancouver to Banff/Jasper. If you like natural wonders/outdoor, go for Banff/Jasper. Vancouver has both city life and outdoor beauty. I find it difficult giving up Vancouver for Banff or the other way round.

That said, I personally think visiting both Vancouver and Banff/Jasper would be too much for one trip, although many people do. These should be 2 separate trips.
