世界第一經濟實體美國和第二的日本比，在能源有效利用上當然有距離，但令我覺得驚訝的是差距並沒有想象的大。考慮到美國人的生活方式（大房子大汽車），我覺得美國在能源有效利用上工作還是做得不錯（當然提高的空間還是有）。這也是有數據支持的：

反過來說，正是美國的自由生活方式吸引了世界上無數人來這裏安家。不可能也沒必要去要求大部分的美國人住象日本、香港式的鴿子籠，開微型車和每天去擠地鐵和公車。我覺得更重要的是如何在自由生活方式和能源有效利用上取得一個平衡。
