Wunderlust, thanks for the comment for my Alaska's Mountains.
The base time for the fall scenery in Alaska is around Label Day. The foliage in there is very different from New English. Yellow color dominates all foliage with large amount of black or green pines in between. I think due to altitude, Maples cann't be survived in that extreme weather.
I drove about 5500 miles to go almost all HWY loops along with cities and towns in corner. I love travel. I have been lots of places in US. The Alaska is my the most favorite spot. Definitely I will go back there more than n times:). There are so many activities to do if you are an outdoor person.
I am pretty sad to hear that Bush wants to allow oil drill in government protected wildness land, Alaska.
I highly recommend if anyone are having a travel plan, the Alaska should be your the first choice.
The first picture was taken about one hour before merging to route 1, south bound.
Starting tonight I will post Alaska's meadows, glaciers, coast and ocean in serial. Hope these will promote your desire to go there.
