17 day trip – day 10

I'm on day 10 already! 7 more days left.

Venezzia / Venice:  three out of five

When I first came into Venice, I was a bit nervous because the tour guide had warned about pickpockets.  He had a lot of stories about them, especially one type. They're called gypsies and don't hide the fact that they are pickpockets. Once, a person complained that the gypsies should get a job so they don't have to steal and a gypsy replied, "This is our job!" Venice, also known as Venezzia, has a lot of pigeons. In fact, there are so many that it's against the law to feed them. A lot of people still do, though. Chasing the pigeons is very fun. Sometimes, I walk into a huge flock, or just pick a pigeon to follow and chase. The pigeons aren't too afraid of people.  The main method of transportation is going in boats, but I didn't go on them except to get to and from Venice. There is a huge area in the center of the city, where there is a tower and a church. That's St. Mark's square, the only big square in the city. (It's also a lopsided shape, too!) I went into the church and up the tower. The tower has 15 floors! I'm glad that there's an elevator. The view from the top of the towers is very good. From that height, I could see not just Venice, but the islands around it.

Today, three people got lost. First, one person got lost. Then, the other two people decided to look for that person. The first person came back, but the other two had to be left behind! They eventually took a water taxi to the mainland.
