Rent car in east Europe

We plan to rent a full size car(BMW or BENZ) in Frankfurt(we have 4 people). We will visit Germany , then drive to Czech, Austria, Hungry, Croatia and Slovenia. The rental company just informed us that they can't give us any German made car if we are going to drive to east Europe. Does anyone encounter this problem? Thanks
