來自舊金山（祖籍廣東開平）的45歲華裔，鄧月薇，是9/11早上第一架被劫持飛往洛杉磯的美國航空公司American Airline 11號航班的乘務員, 在機上被四個恐怖分子控製以後，毫不猶豫地撥通了地麵塔台的電話,輕聲地與地麵取得聯係多達22分鍾，使得有關部門得到一些的時間準備。
這通電話是在當天早上8點20分左右打的，8點46分飛機撞上世貿北樓，基本上她堅持/fighting到最後一分鍾。
那天天氣特別晴朗，9:00前聽到電視新聞以後，俺大約在9點過一點點，在世貿的對岸，看著北樓頂部（大樓肩膀上）起大火。然後9:03南樓又幾乎被第二架飛往洛杉磯的飛機穿透了，這架同樣裝滿汽油的飛機正中撞在南大樓的中上方（胸部位），速度(v) 為590 mph(第一架是440 mph)，Momenmum= mass * v,
衝擊力 = 飛機重量 乘 飛行速度 （南樓速度快多了又封閉上下燃燒）。
南大樓上端幾十層的頓量壓迫被燒(斷)的鋼梁，then整個南樓主體不到十分鍾就趴到地上了，比早開火的北樓早了46分鍾落地。
World Trade Center 地上燃燒期：北樓8:46-10.28 am, 而南樓9:03-9:59 am。
九一一那天共造成: 2977 人死亡，不包括四架飛機上的恐怖分子。
除了鄧月薇（Betty Ann Ong）外, 還有不少英雄, 包括在賓州提前結束UA93號航班飛往DC國會大廈的部分fighting旅客。
