Your method is perfect,I use Math method to verify this is the best,I want to take my "face" back a litter bit.
There are 2^100 cases for hots,the signal information is :
1/2^99+1/2^98+...+1/2^2+1/2=1-1/2^99.Your method 1-.5/100
[(1-1/2^99*100)]=[(1-.5/100)*100}.
I think 10 people is better for the question.100 people to more,if one wrong,a lot of people will be killed.
