Nobody is not impressed by the buildings and infrastructures in many Chinese cities. However, everyone is very disappointed by seeing horribly looking houses and buildings in countryside in China, even though most buildings were built in bricks and cements, energy and cost non-effective materials.
Not sure if the Chinese governments, especially local governments, have a construction guide (or code) and plan for those farmers who build their houses. I think that the people living in rural areas would much appreciate the things like house designs, materials used, and styles, etc. that the government can offer help when any new houses are going to be constructed.
Most Chinese tourists to Europe, North America, and Japan are envying the houses and settings these local people live. In fact, house construction and associated environment could be much improved in China country side if the government helped doing so, including design, using energy-cost effective building materials, and landscape planning. I can predict that the face of rural areas would be greatly changed in a decade if the government sincerely helps the well beings of people living in countryside in China.
Housing is the most important symbol of wealthy and well beings of people! Living quality of these people will move up if they can live in well designed houses containing basic healthy living system. The slogan "Serving the people" of Chinese Communist Party could start with helping people in rural areas build beautiful houses! The differences of living conditions between cities and countryside may be significantly reduced only when the housings in rural areas are improved. At that time, city people may wish to move to countryside to enjoy fresh life! I wish that this would take place soon in China.
