加拿大著名樂隊Nickelback成立於Alberta省的小城Hanna. 最初的成員是Chad Kroeger(主唱/吉他手)，他的兄弟Mike Kroeger(貝斯手)，他們的表兄弟Brandon，以及他們的好朋友Ryan Peake(吉他手)。Nickelback現在是商業上最成功的加拿大樂隊之一，全世界已售出大約三千一百萬張專輯。在2000年Nickelback名列全球最暢銷音樂榜的第11位，在美國僅排在披頭士之後名列最暢銷的外國音樂藝人的第二位。
Nickel是加拿大人對五分硬幣的稱呼，樂隊成員Mike Kroeger在星巴克咖啡（Starbucks）工作時，他經常會對客戶說：Here's your nickel back。樂隊之名由此而來。
2001年，Nickelback的專輯“Silver Side Up”帶他們進入了主流音樂市場。其中的“How You Remind Me”取得了巨大的成功，在同一時間登上了美國及加拿大排行榜的＃1。在美國，它既是主流和當代搖滾音樂排行榜的＃1，同時也是流行音樂榜的＃1，並達到了Adult Top 40榜的＃ 2。2002年“How You Remind Me” 在Billboard Hot 100單曲榜中排名第一。這個專輯中的另外兩首單曲“Too Bad” 及“Never Again”也登上過主流和當代搖滾音樂排行榜的＃1。
2002年，Nickelback中的Chad Kroeger，Mike Kroeger與其它搖滾藝人合作了非常著名的蜘蛛俠主題曲,“Hero” 。
2003年，他們的專輯“The Long Road”麵世。“Someday”是其中最出名的單曲 。另一首單曲“Feelin' Way Too Damn Good”曾達到主流和當代搖滾音樂排行榜的＃3的位置。 “Figured You Out” 更排在主流和當代搖滾音樂排行榜的前列達連續13周之久。
他們的第五張專輯“All The Right Seasons”，其中有五支單曲打入美國Hot 100單曲榜的前20位： “Photograph” ， “Savin' Me” ， “Far Away” ， “If Everyone Cared” ， “Rockstar” 。這張專輯在份美國截至2009年4月25日已售出7，130，623張。
Nickelback的最新專輯“Dark Horse”發行於二○○八年九月三十號。其中有他們的多首熱門曲目：” If Today Was Your Last Day”, “Gotta Be Somebody”, “Something in Your Mouth”, “I'd Come for You” 和 “Burn It To The Ground”。
