Tiansi Xin, a PhD student in chemistry at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), died on November 16, 2023, in a laboratory accident. He was 27 years old. He was working on a project involving phosphorus compounds, when a chemical explosion occurred, causing severe injuries and burns. He was rushed to the hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds.
