Sumy At a special exhibition earlier this week, Ukraines Ministry of Strategic Industry presented some of the new weapons designed and built entirely within the country to the media.

Drawing on the latest technological developments and knowledge gained from 11 years of war including more than 3 years of large-scale warfare these weapons consist of robotic complexes that can operate remotely or even autonomously.

The NRC TerMIT (short for Terrain Modular Infantry Transporter), for example, is a modular tracked platform that can be used for a wide range of land applications. Alla Perdei and I followed the projects design and development step by step in Kyiv. A robotic tracked vehicle equipped with cameras and a 1.24-meter-long high-strength chassis, the TerMIT can be used to deliver supplies to the most dangerous areas to reach, but also to clear land mines or to transport wounded military personnel with a payload of up to 300 kg. If equipped with its combat modules, i.e. its Predator grenade launcher, the Storm Mk19 pod or the Browning machine gun turret, it can provide valuable support in the hottest areas of the battlefield, hitting targets up to a kilometer away (which becomes almost two in the case of the grenade launcher) without endangering precious human resources. Like practically all the other devices presented, it is also equipped with an electronic warfare module (able to interface with other systems so that they operate in unison, following coordinated patterns at a distance and without being able to be intercepted) and autonomous tools to cover its tracks, such as the smoke generator. If equipped with the minelayer module, in engineer mode it can be used to mine large specific areas, taking advantage of an autonomy of over 10 km from the starting point.

Its price? 12,000 dollars, compared to over 300,000 for a similar foreign product (which has the same probability of being destroyed on the battlefield).

The FP-1 attack drone is instead capable of carrying warheads of up to 120 kg to hit targets at a maximum distance of 1600 km.

The Bulava, developed by the Czech-Ukrainian company UAC, can be equipped with cumulative thermobaric warheads weighing 3.6 kg and has a range of up to 60 km from the launch point.

The gigantic Bohdana cannon can destroy targets as large as buildings up to 42 km away. Alla and I have seen it in action on the battlefield, and it is nothing short of terrifying in its size and the force it unleashes.

Other made-in-Ukraine hybrid missile/drone launchers can already be armed with 300 to 600 kg warheads, striking targets over 2,000 km from the launch site with surgical precision.

By 2024, Ukraine had produced $9 billion in weapons domestically, significantly increasing the production of its own launchers. President Volodymyr Zelensky recently instructed the development of a Ukrainian-made ballistic missile to accelerate as much as possible, calling it an important security guarantee.

According to a German military report,Ukraines use of supplied weapons revealed that some armaments from Germany were inadequate for modern warfare. This means that without the experience gained in Ukraine, the Berlin Ministry of Defense would have discovered the problems with its weapons only during a hopefully distant third world war.

Therefore, it is important for Ukraine to capitalize on the painful experience gained over a decade by investing in its own war industry.

According to the Minister of Strategic Industry Smetanin, over 40% of the weapons in the hands of Trident soldiers are already of Ukrainian production. This means thatsince the beginning of the large-scale Russian invasion of the country, the Ukrainian military-industrial complex has increased its production capacity by a good 35 times. Minister Smetanin also noted that the Ukrainian war machine is already capable of doing at least four times as much.

Without the need for old-fashioned parades, in Kyiv, they get straight to the point. If Vladimir Putins manifest intention was to demilitarize the Country of Sunflowers,it can be safely said that the special military operation not only failed but produced the opposite of its declared purpose.
