楊堅代周自立，改國號為隋

581年3月3日（北周靜帝大定元年二月十四日）楊堅廢周靜帝為介公，北周亡。同時，楊堅自立為皇帝，築大興城（今陝西西安東南一帶）為國都，改國號為隋。

俄羅斯解放農奴

 

俄羅斯帝國沙皇亞曆山大二世正式發布《農奴解放宣言》，廢除該國實行的農奴製。

美國新聞周刊《時代》出版第一期

 

《時代》周刊由美國出版商亨利·魯斯創辦，為美國第一本新聞周刊。

1931

《星條旗》成為美國國歌

 

1931年3月3日，赫伯特·胡佛總統簽署了一項法律，正式將弗朗西斯·斯科特·基在1812年戰爭期間創作的《星條旗》被國會法案正式采納為美國國歌，《星條旗》取代原先經常使用的《哥倫比亞萬歲》。

美國人史蒂夫·福塞特完成單人不間斷環球航行，人類第一人

 

2005年的這一天，美國冒險家Steve Fossett在飛行超過67小時後降落在堪薩斯州，

駕駛維珍大西洋環球飛行者完成單人不間斷環遊世界。
