One thing you need to do now is to talk to your friend, alumni and figure out within the things you know, what field has the best chance, then you work on that, very hard. Have a schedule such as 3 months that what you want to achieve, and stick to this goal.

For language, start to work on it, be patient but consistent, if you do so, I am sure your English will improve very much in 3 months.
