I got my BA in English from a normal university as well. My math is good though. I got 2100 GRE (full score on maths). I started learning Education. Then I transferred to Computer science. Generally speaking, girls arent as good with programing as guys. After graduation most of my classmates became software engineers. As my English is better than other mates from IT I get my first job as a technical support engineer. I only got paid $35K at my first job, then $45K however at the time tech support is a better fit. As my career progresses, I start to work on IT certificates. I got linux serer admin certificates, senior DBA certificates etc. Those definately helps me get ahead. I actually make 6 figures now.
A good boss is very important. He/She could inspire you to work hard and achieve more. So dont give up. If you dont like your boss look for another job. If you dont think you can get another job easily. Learn something, improve yourself and then you might move to another team within the same company. If you are a girl find a guy with a better career. :)
