buy train tickets, select seats

Hi, we need to buy train tickets from Milan MXP airport to Venice and then from Venice to Rome in August. 

 

Do I need to select seats ($2 per person) or it will be guaranteed to have seats?

 

Also, I can see multiple websites to order tickets, thetrainline, italotreno, or trenitalia. Which one is the best?
