Depends on how long you have stayed in China. If it is just less than 6 months and you have the permanent address with the property such as house and you pay the state tax in the state before you left US, it is fine to file N-400 abroad. Temporary travel does not affect your presence in the same state.

If you stayed in China for more than 6 months continuously, you may not be qualifed for N-400 filing because your continuity of physical presence may have been disrupted.
