更上一層樓的 I-824

為什麽說 I-824 是更上一層樓？
因為你的申請，本來 USCIS 已經批了。可你沒完沒了，非要再跟它去找點事兒，看看還能占點啥便宜。

好吧，我們先看看有些什麽便宜可占。

幾年前，你的父母大人來省親，進關時給了6個月停留期，可孩子剛滿月走不開呀，於是又申請延了仨月。 USCIS 二話不說，批了。到期了，你規規矩矩把大人們送上了飛機。現在，老二又快出來了，二老又去使館簽證。簽證官看一眼係統裏的資料，問：上回怎麽過期了呀？你爹分辯說：沒有的事兒，俺兒給俺辦了手續的。簽證官發話 了：那好，把手續拿過來，我就給你簽。越洋電話的時候，你娘把這事跟你訴了。然後，你就開始找＂手續＂了。可是那份 Extension 的 I-797 Approval Notice，卻沒了蹤影。

怎麽辦？填 I-824 呀。表格在這裏下載 (Rev. 07/30/07)，這裏是填表說明。

還有，你的綠卡終於批了，國內的老婆孩子也算熬到了頭。讓他們去廣州之前，你別忘了也要交份 I-824 的表， 好 follow-to-join.

I-824 表還有別的用途，隻是不常用罷了。

好了，表格下載完之後，我們就開始動手。

Part 1. Information about you
Name 填你的名字（原來是公司出麵申請的就寫公司名稱，如 I-129）
Home or Business Address 家庭(或公司)住址（必須是街道地址，不能用 P.O. Box 信箱）
Mailing Address 如果同上，則不填或注明 "Same as Above"
C/O (in care of): 你可以在這裏填別人名字，如果你是用朋友的地址來代轉，但不能用 P.O. Box 信箱
Daytime Phone # 自己的電話號碼
IRS Tax # 公司稅號 - 個人不填
A # Alien Registration Number，沒有就別填，一定不要亂填 - 公司不填


Part 2. Reason for request
常用的有
A [x] A duplicate approval notice - 原來的批件丟了，要個備份。如前麵的爹娘簽證。
老師再多說一句話，請告誡你的家長，簽證時可不要說是來帶孩子的。
C [x] USCIS to notify a U.S. Consulate that my status has been adjusted to permanent resident. - 適用於上麵的 follow-to-join，還得在下麵的空格裏填上 "American Guangzhou Consulate, P.R. China"

Part 3. Additional information
這部分問的是關於原來申請的情況
1. Give the following information about the original petition or application.
Type of Petition or Application － 如 I-539, I-129, I-485 等
Receipt Number － 3個字母加10個數字，如 EAC-12-345-67890
Filing Date of Petition or Application / Approval Date － 記不準具體的日子，就大概估一下

2.Give the following information about the petitioner or applicant for the original petition or application.
Current/Most Recent Immigration Status - 當事人還在美國，填現在的身份，否則是離境時的身份
Naturalization/Citizenship Certificate Number - 你是公民了，號填上來

3. Give the following information about the principal beneficiary of the original petition or application.
請注意：那時候的申請人名義上應該是你老爹，就不要寫你的名字了；對於 follow-to-join 來說，別在這裏填你的老婆孩子（你沒有搞錯兒，這張表中是沒有地方來填他們的名字）。
地址不是現在的，是當時申請時的通訊地址。在上麵的收據號，申請／批準日期不詳時，這個地址有助於查找你的申請。

Part 4. Signature
是要你的簽字和日期。

都填完了，再檢查一遍，開張 $340 的支票給 U.S. Department of Homeland Security （不要偷懶成 "USDHS" or "DHS"），一起寄到原來申請的中心。你的批件原件雖然不見了，有複印件的話請付上一份；否則，有 Receipt Notice，或是原來申請表格的複印件也可以。

你的 Receipt Number 的字母是該中心的縮寫。
CSC - California Service Center
EAC - Vermont Service Center
LIN - Nebraska Service Center
SRC - Texas Service Center

沒有 Receipt Number，也可以通過你居住地的來定轄區。
Vermont Service Center’s (VSC) jurisdiction:
Connecticut, Delaware, District of Columbia, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Puerto Rico, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virgin Islands, Virginia, and West Virginia.
Nebraska Service Center’s (NSC) jurisdiction:
Alaska, Colorado, Idaho, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, Oregon, South Dakota, Utah, Washington, Wisconsin, and Wyoming.
California Service Center’s (CSC) jurisdiction:
Arizona, California, Guam, Hawaii, and Nevada.
Texas Service Center’s (TSC) jurisdiction:
Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Mississippi, New Mexico, North Carolina, Oklahoma, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Texas.
